Hi everyone! I know, I know, I've been such a bad blogger lately. Actually, I haven't been a blogger at all for quite some time. Just been really busy traveling (work :( not leisure) and getting sick (cough, cough). I haven' even had that much time to even browse the web...

Anyway! I just want to say hi to all of you and remind you that I haven't abandoned you my lovelies! I'll try to put in scheduled posts when I get even a short free time. For those looking for me and wondering what has happened to me, thanks so much for the concern!

I am soo exhausted right now from nonstop business trips, meetings, events, etc., so all I want to do now that I finally have a few hours to sit and relax is browse the net, find some pretty and funny things and pretend I haven't been out of the blogging world for more than a week (too tired to even sleep!)

It's soo warm and windy here! I so wish I could just relax in a hammock (which I have yet to install) at our front porch and just sip some cold lemonade! Isn't that what summer should look like? These photos by Steve Hoskins are soo amazing! I just love how clear these shots are. And these pets are the absolute cutest! I wish I could have Chico, our chocolate brown Labrador, stay still for even just five seconds so I could take a decent photo. Haha. What pets do you have?

What a pretty piece of work! This clock jar by designer Oren Hetzroni is inspired by his childhood memories of capturing insects in a jar. Don't we all have those memories?

I'm not sure how it works though; I think it's just for display. I like the one with the red/white tablecloth, because it just feels so homey. What do you think?

As promised, here is a post about the things I did on my birthday, including a few of the gifts I received. And in this post are some details about me and my life. I hope I don't bore you!

Thursday, March 18, I was at work for nine hours, looking forward to spending a birthday eve dinner with Jay. We ate at this very cozy place called Terrace at the 5th:

He got me this pre-birthday gift, a Samsung Omnia (which is now full of appointments), last week to replace my lost phone:

Friday, March 19 (my b-day), I was already in the office at 6:20 in the morning. I have to be on the field to visit some suburban property sites. Left at 7:00 am, got back in the office at 6:30 pm. Just so you wouldn't wonder, I am with the Corporate Marketing department of a real estate firm. I wish to buy a property from one of our firm's developments as an investment in the near future. Here are some shots that I believe I am allowed to share (sorry, no photos of my planned outfit!):

That night, though super tired, I enjoyed a nice dinner with my family at this Greek place called Cyma. Oops, didn't get to take photos with family. But my little sis captured this tired-but-happy pic of me:

A Starbucks tumbler that I so need when I'm on the go. It's hard holding on to that Starbucks cup and avoiding spills when I'm moving, so I'll just have my barista put my coffee here. And a teeny silk shorts (so shiny!):

My birthday celebration wasn't at all fancy, but I really enjoyed it and I am so thankful for the people who made it possible. I would also like to thank you my lovely readers for sharing this day with me and for all the greetings! You all are the sweetest! Here's to more happy years!

This new campaign by Surfrider Foundation Europe is so far from being rubbish. You know I love seeing great advertisements and I think the idea here is very simple, but everything came out amazing. And the photos are superb! I really hope this gets people to do their part in keeping the ocean clean.

I don't wear flats much cos I'm quite petite, so I love adding a little height through day after day of heels and platforms. But lately, I've been quite obsessed with moccasins. I would probably not have one in my home, but I've to say this brings a smile to my face. Why? Cos I've always wanted to invent something so simple yet (even a bit) clever and useful (like toothpick c'mon!!!) This one is a wall sticker that marks the spot to put your magazines/ newspapers/ books, after which can double as chair! Though it's definitely nothing like toothpick or post-it, I just still can't help but envy whoever cooked this up. At least s/he has ideas!! haha.

Spare the coins!

I love having coin banks; pulling out spare change from my pockets and depositing it in my own little bank every end of the day is just automatic for me. And I have to say the best part is finding out how much I have saved once I figured that the bank is full and is in need of some emptying. It's like finding spare cash when you least expect it, be it from the laundry or inside book pages; and you suddenly have the money to buy those new shoes you've been raving about!

Sadly though, I recently had to empty my overflowing bank(s) when i heard local bank and government officials pleading to the people to stop putting all those coins aside as there is now a shortage of coins in the country. Haha, I think everyone I know was doing the same thing, and obviously, most of the nation is too. And so i did the right thing and gave the coins to Jay for him to exchange to the bank! I won't tell how much, but it was huge!!!

Do you keep coin banks too? Or do you leave it to the kids?

I'm back everyone!!! Sorry for the little blogging hiatus, but as you know, I came from a short vacation and am still hung over the sight and smell of the amazing sea. I stayed in three different islands, well, the other one is a cove that can be reached through a six-hour hike (see some parts of the trail below), but i went for the 30-minute boat ride instead. It was really an amazing trip and I thought I'd share some photos with you, enjoy!

Hi everyone! Guess who's going to the beach? Me of course! I'm so excited to finally have a little vacation, so I'm not so sure I could sleep tonite! Haha. It will be a four-hour bus ride plus a 30-minute boat ride to this secluded paradise so I'll be up real early tomorrow. Be back home Sunday afternoon. Wish me a lovely trip!

It's a crazy Monday!

Ooh, my aching back! So I'm proud to say that I finished the 5k run, yay! There were like 12,000 people, so it was hella crazy. Funny story during the run, Jay was motivating me by asking me to at least get a faster time than the girl with a leather handbag who was a feet ahead of us. He was like "c'mon hon, she has a fancy leather handbag! On a road race! You so got to be faster than her!" And I was of course! Haha.

Anyway, it's Monday and I thought I'd start with something nice and a bit odd with these Marithé and François Girbaud S/S 2010 “This is a Crazy World” photos. Watya think?

Happy weekend everyone! What will you be up to during the break? Jay and I will be joining (so not competing!) this road run under the 5k category on Sunday, so I'm pretty sure I will be too weak to wake up Monday morning! Haha. Four days to go and the day of ~~sweets~~ hearts will be here yet again. I know some of us are not too ecstatic about this day for different reasons. But c'mon, you gotta love it for all those sweets! The always lovely Betty over at Betty Bake made these scrumptious heart-shaped brownies with raspberry cream that would be perfect for valentines. I would love to make some for my friends and family (who said V-day is just for lovers?). Besides, my boyfriend Jay is allergic to anything sugary sweet, and though he does bake better than I do, I'm the one who get to actually eat them!

My friend sent me a link to this funny Meiji advertising campaign by McCann Bangkok, where life-sized stickers of athletes were attached to revolving doors to interact with consumers, claiming "Milk makes you stronger." So when you push the door, it would look as if you're having a little fight with these scary-looking men. Hilarious and totally creative! Nice way to start a rather sluggish Monday morning. Now to get myself some coffee (and yes, with milk)... Happy Monday to you!

It's Friday once more and the weekend is here! Do you have any interesting plans for the break? My boyfriend Jay and I will be attending the baptism of our friends' beautiful baby girl, Avery, tomorrow morning, and probably go exploring (anywhere!) afterward. I am also looking forward to assisting my little sister in her search for a prom dress. Can't believe she's all grown-up! Seems it was just yesterday that I was changing her diapers. Strip Tea

The tea submarine was a definite hit last week and some readers even said that it made them wish they drink tea. Well, I think reactions will be going the opposite direction with this hilarious teabags from Donkey Products that feature half-naked men and women enjoying one warm, relaxing bath (in your tea!). Although it's just fun, I'm not too sure if I could seriously drink my tea with these things floating around, especially that hairy-chested man! Ack!

It's a Monday morning here and of course I'm still hung-up with weekend fun and relaxation. I dragged my unwilling bum to work, opened my computer, and felt my eyes pop open upon seeing Lady Gaga in this outfit:

It may not be the most ourageous outfit she has ever donned, but thanks to her I've waken up from the weekend blues and up and running once more.

Hello my lovelies! It seems like the week just started and now it's in it's end. Not that I'm complaining of course. So what will you be doing over the weekend? I plan to have a short Saturday morning run (I so need exercise!), a little valentine DIY (this first before the dress), some relaxing and a short trip to visit my itsy-bitsy cousins (those are not them in the photo, but they are definitely as cute!)

Loving this dress

Saw this Spring 2010 Erdem dress from My Life in Style and I immediately fell in love with it. I just love florals and this dress gave a new meaning to detailing. I wish I could find a version for less, because this one's too pricey for me. There's a nearby store though that sells those types of applique so i think a little DIY is possible. I've done this before, but not on a whole dress, just around the collar of this plain white top to give it some color. I still have it, but it has already turned off-white, so I don't wear it much.

What do you think of this dress? Are you lovin' it too? Also, have you done any fashion DIY lately?

Books on display

I just love books on display. Of course I buy to read not to display, but there is something about shelves and shelves of books that make me swoon and feel warm inside. Whenever I visit a friend's house and am allowed to look around a bit, I go straight to the hallway or living room bookshelf and check out what they have in there; from first editions to tattered collector's items to atlases to untouched chick lits. Even my boyfriend has this lovely collection of books (well, he's a professor) that I always browse through.

These book storage and display ideas from Design 3000 are of course not quite like the shelves-and-shelves that I adore, but I can't deny that these are really nice ways to display your books. I especially love the third one, and the first one is genius because it also acts as bookmark. Oh, and check out these brilliant book lights that I've posted a few weeks ago.

So my lovelies, do you adore books as decor/display like I do or am I being too nerdy? What do you think of these designs? Sound off below!

Personal valentine coupons

We've talked about valentines and how most of you love doing it yourself. And I just have to share this amazingly sweet DIY gift that my boyfriend gave me a few years back. I got to use it for a whole year and I secretly wish I have more of them. So what is it? Personal coupons.

He gave me this strange envelope with an accompanying letter saying:

"Ms. Andy Tan, Congratulations!! You have just been given a set of Jay (boyfriend) cards. This entitles the bearer to use the cards to make Jay do things, which involve hugs, shopping, baking, cooking, cleaning and more. However, these cards will only be valid a year from receipt. Enjoy and use your cards well. The use of the cards is subject to terms and agreement and not valid for exchange or monetary equivalent. One card per transaction. From, Jay Enterprises"

Inside the envelope are around fifty small pink coupons with handwritten notes like "buy me that," "cook me lunch," "buy me ice cream," "bake me cookies," "buy me flowers," "shop for a day (Jay's treat)," "give me a hug," "clean the floor," and more sweet stuff.

It was so much fun to use and whenever he gets a bit upset with me, I pull out one give me a hug card and well, he mellows down. And I so enjoyed the shopping and cleaning cards too! And though I don't necessarily need a coupon to have him do all those things, it was just so cute and sweet to use.

Valentine's day is just around the corner so everyone's busy looking around for the perfect cards. Last week, I posted these romantic handmade valentines and I was thinking, if I'm buying handmade, why don't I just hand-make it myself! It's tough work but I think that's what makes it more special. Although having a little assistant, like this cute handmade heart balloon rubber stamp from Cupcake Tree, does not hurt!

I heard that lingerie will be huge this spring 2010 (see that little slip showing in Marion Cotillard's Globes 2009 dress) and though such trend is quite in the danger zone for me, I have to take my hat off to this lovely lady (Heather of The Sound of Lace) for rocking this look:
See those lacy bloomers she wore over her tights; smartly paired with a loose top and crisp blazer. What a pretty way to add a feminine touch. She just really pulled it off! So chic!

As you know, I still have some pendant hunting to do and for a second straight weekend, I came home empty-handed... well, not really. Instead of going to the mall to find myself some nice pendant, my sister and I ended up thrifting! Just small things. Here are some of the stuff I bought:

Shoe Trolley

I am so loving this vintage shoe trolley! I would really want to have one of these, first because it's gorge, and second because my shoes are getting out of hand-- they're everywhere (still getting that new pair of flats though)! I can see myself already, pushing the trolley, picking up shoes here and there, and tidying up the house along the way! Nice!

Going a little flat

I'm looking for a new pair of flats, and though I love shoes and shopping, this one is kind of forced (well, he sort of pleaded with puppy eyes) on me by my boyfriend Jay. And I thought guys love girls in high heels! He's been adorably bugging me for a while now to ditch my heels for some time in change of flats. Why, you ask? Well, he's been seeing me trip a lot lately and of course he blames the towering shoes. He said that though he loves me in heels, and in anything, I'd be quite safer with flats.

Funny story that totally killed my argument: Last week after work, while walking down the street to the mall and discussing my favorite pair of pumps (which I was wearing), I was telling him that I can't ditch the certain pair because it's my favorite. He was like, "but you always trip on those and what if you get hurt?" I laughed it off and said matter-of-factly, "But these are soo comfortab...aah!" Bam, I tripped big time! Like really almost fell to my butt on the ground! He immediately helped me up, staring at me with worried eyes, "are you okay, hon?" My answer? A loud, crazy laugh!! After a full minute of laughing, I said "and I was trying to make a point!"

Oh, I know he only means well... so let the search begin! I have my fair share of flats at home, but I haven't bought one for quite some time now. A new lovely pair just like these three (the two have little wedges, yay!) from Anthropologie would be perfect.

Any suggestions, my dears?

I so love V Magazine for featuring these amazing models in its January edition. What a fresh of breath air seeing these beautiful, plus size/sexy women feel so confident about themselves. Isn't this one lovely bookstore/inn? It's the Shakespeare and Company, an independent bookstore in Paris that features beds to accommodate travelers and young writers. I just adore its messiness and I would definitely want to stay here. Oh, and those notes on the board (thank you's for George the owner) are from the travelers that have stayed there.

Hey everyone! Remember the missing earring I told you about ages ago? Well, I have found the other pair! I found it stuck in between my desk and my closet this morning while, oddly enough, I was retrieving another pair of earring (which I was gonna wear) that fell off. I cant believe I never tried looking there! The lock is broken though, but I think I can fix it easily.

Pendant hunt

My parents gave me a really nice pair of white gold necklace for Christmas and I've been wearing it out and about since then. Thing is, they only bought the chain cos they didn't know what type of pendant I wanted to go with it. So now I'm in a little pendant hunt and I'm gearing towards the classic cross design, unless I find something more timeless and awesome.

There's No Place Like Here

And this is the first book I have read this 2010. Heard a lot about her, but this was the first one by Cecelia Ahern that I have read. I wasn't blown away, but I have to say that the book had its charms and it's a very easy read too. After the busy Holidays, it was just nice to have a two-day rest with a light book in hand.

I don't want to throw in spoilers for those who haven't read the book yet, but after reading There's No Place Like Here, I just wish I never go missing and moreover, I hope I'll never be forgotten by the people I love.

Relationship New Year's Resolutions

Happy 2010 everyone! I'm back on board the blogging world after a long silence due to the lovely Holiday Season that has recently passed us. It felt like I waited all year for it and just like that, it's over. But I did have a lot of fun and now let's look forward to a glorious new year.

Every year, my boyfriend Jay and I post our relationship new year's resolutions for the other to view (where? sorry girls, but it's a mighty secret!) and I have just posted mine a few minutes ago! It included the following:

"complain less
try my best not to pick fights
eat healthy (I've bad cholesterol and he's been watching my diet like an eagle lately) and spend more (and new) fitness activities with you
spend less this year and save, save, save for our future"
etc...

How about you ladies? Do you also keep relationship new year's resolutions that you share with your significant other? Do you find it romantic or uber cheesy?

Robin Hood

I just saw the trailer of Robin Hood from YouTube and it really got my heart pumping. I have watched Gladiator countless times and I am really excited to see Russel Crowe and Ridley Scott work together on an epic again. I've always loved Robin Hood (laughed at Kevin Costner's version, watched the cartoon series and endless stage plays) but I haven't seen a production in a more serious tone, discussing the real story behind the legend. So even if it won't be released til May 2010, I am already starting to count the days! Meanwhile, here's another look at the trailer:
