Happy weekend!

What are you up to this weekend? It's a local Holiday on Monday so that means I'd have a three-day break! Yay! Well, I dunno yet what I would be doing, but I'm pretty sure I'd be spending some quality time with my family. Ooh, I can't wait to just relax.

Happy weekend everyone! And to my American friends, hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!

This Vintage Victorian Black Purse in silk moire is to die for! It looks both casual and elegant, but it's quite pricey for me so all I can do now is just dream and drool.

Whoever gets this is one lucky girl.

Thrifted vintage bangles

I am so loving this vintage bangles that I thrifted from a recent Christmas bazaar. Isn't it quite lovely? You should start visiting bazaars now while they're all over the metro! World Trade recently opened for the Holiday season and though it's quite packed, it's totally worth it!

Huge headache

Happy midweek everyone! Mine's not so happy so far. I've had this huge headache since waking up this morning. I've taken some aspirin and it still has not gone away. Hmm, I think I'll get my 40 winks.. Later!

Brilliant idea: Cable art design

Amazing, amazing home design by Maisie Maud Broadhead! She made a series of installations created with wire flex and cable fixings to turn a lamp's cable into a fireplace decor/frame! I am really loving this!

That is one looong cable, isn't it? I am so at awe over this design, because it is just so impeccably creative! How about you? Are you as impressed as I am? Would you ever try this at home?

Tree bookshelf

I know, I know, I am a full-grown adult. But aren't you just loving this tree bookshelf by designer Shawn Soh? It's just too cute! And it acts both as decor and furniture, love it!

Parmesan and sage roasted turkey breast

I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm totally torturing myself by looking through brilliant recipes over the net. Anyway, here's a scrumptious-looking parmesan and sage roasted turkey meal over at Closet Cooking:

I soo want to try this one, like now!!

Let's talk book: The Shadow of the Wind

I just finished reading this book over the weekend and I cannot stop marveling about it. It was a sad but epic story of love, death, deception, dreams and hope.

Someday, I might just visit a Cemetery of Forgotten Books, which the main character visited as a child, taking with him a book he is sworn to protect the rest of his life. A book that strangely has him entangled in an age old conflict that began with the author himself.

Have you read this book? What book are you reading at the moment?

Chic book stand

I saw these lovely book stands over at Saizen the other day! Oh aren't the vintage-looking ones to die for?

If you like the modern type more, there's one for you too!

I love the vintage-inspired stands, but I couldn't choose between the three so I ended up not buying until I decide which one to go for.

Don't you just love these stands? Run to Saizen and get your pair now!

Virtual manicure

You've heard of online dress-up sites, but I bet you havent' seen this cool new virtual manicure site. Opi.com has this feature called 'Try On This Color', where you can paint your virtual nails with a wide variety of shades. To make it look more real, you can change your nail length and skin tone.

No more sneaking in some trial painting while choosing a nail polish in the drugstores. Now you can preview before you buy!

Oh and girls who have been dying to try multi-colored nails, I'm sorry but I don't think the site has that feature yet.

Scarf love

Don't you just love those soft, dangly little things? I know I do! Warm or cold, it's one of my favorite accessories, because it brightens any outfit in a snap. See how these girls are wearing simple white tops and plain ol' jeans, yet they look so chic? That's the power of scarves.

And if it's just too warm for a scarf around the neck then try to incorporate it in your outfit in a different way like Ms. Elyoo herself:
She tied it around her fedora, now how creative is she? Try it now, ladies!

Guy Speak: What do guys really think about?

There is a new website in town. And no girls, it's not about fashion or beauty; but you'd be totally interested all the same. It's guyspeak.com, a website where you can ask guys whatever you want and you get real answers from real men. Now isn't that sweet. Though I warn you ladies, it's not always what you want to hear so don't forget to brace yourself!

Check the site here and post your questions now!

Color my nails

What do you girls think of multi-colored nails? Trendy or tacky? It would be amazing to be able to try this one out, but I have really short, uneven nails and giving it a multi-coloring would only make me look crazy. Well, that's me. But if you have lovely hands and nails (like the photo above) or just amazing confidence, you might just be able to rock it.

Think you could make this look work? Try it now!

Cute wedding invitation

I am loving this really nice wedding invitation from Rifle Paper Co. It's not the usual uptight and formal type, but just plain cute and fun. It makes you all excited to go to the wedding and think how pretty it will be.

P.S. I love you body lotion

Bath and Body Works' p.s. I love you body lotion is my beauty product obsession of the moment. I admit the smell is a little too strong for me when i first tried it out. But only because hot weather ruins it and it full-blast blossom when the weather is cold! And now that it's nearing Christmas and it's so damn freezing in the office (since forever), I've been using it and it smells soo good. Oh, and it's a nice giveaway for the Holidays too.

I want to be like mommy

A funny post for the first day of the week:

What did you want to be when you were young? It's always the usual ballet dancer, teacher, singer, actress that come to mind. But a lot of kids, especially girls, claim they want to be like their mommies when they grow up. Like this child:

Happy weekend!

Hi everyone! Watya upto this weekend? Because of the missing earring (and other stuff too!), I have decided that I'll be 'trying' to clean my clutter of a room over the two-day break. Fat chance I'll succeed, but I so have to find that other pair. Ooh! Maybe I'd stop cleaning when I find it? Agreed then. Hope you lovelies will be doing something more enjoyable than that! Have a great weekend!

Lady Gaga

I'm not a huge Lady Gaga fan, but I really just have to post this one after seeing it in Youtube! Lady Gaga's new video--Bad Romance:

She has soo many crazy looks! And her eyes in the bathtub scene creeps me out. Oh, but you so have to see the au naturale Gaga look that starts at 1:39. It's the first time I, and probably everyone else aside from her make-up artist, have seen her with less make-up on, it's kind of refreshing.

What do you think of Gaga's new video?

Secondwind's new branch

Secondwind Running Store is the first running specialty store in the Philippines. It is co-owned by my dearest boyfriend Jay and they will be opening their second branch this Saturday, November 14, 2009 over at Ortigas Home Depot in Pasig City. Sad to say I won't be able to attend the opening, but I'm all out with support! That's why I'm posting it here even before they send out the press release...which will be today of course.

See more about them here.

Food clip

Another Saizen find! A very useful one too. It's a cute, cute food clip to make sure those half-eaten chips keep its freshness. Check it out:

The other one even has a calendar thingy to set date of expiration. Isn't that oh so cool?

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

I know it's the Twilight season again and a lot of people have been finding it hard to sleep waiting for the day New Moon will show in theaters. ho-hum... I am more interested with The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which will be coming out this November as well. It's an animated film based on Roald Dahl's book (I love!) of the same name. Check out the trailer after the jump..

Nail-cutter keychain

My sister got back from London last night and she has the best pictures ever! I'm posting this to show you a piece of my nuttiness. I dunno why, but of all the great stuff (from gorge coats to chic bonnets to cute shirts to pretty accessories)
she brought home, I loved this keychain that doubles as nail-cutter the most. Maybe it's cos I keep losing my keys and my nail-cutters and have to resort to biting my nails (gross, but it's a crappy habit of mine and I bet yours too!!). So it's like killing two birds with one stone. Yay!

Black earbuds: really?

I did tell you I'll be posting some finds from Saizen, so here's the first! And yes, it's black cotton buds! Crazy, I know! It's been around for a while, but I haven't seen one until I stepped into Saizen one boring afternoon.

I've tried it and well... I wont go into details. Just try it yourself and see if you're sticking with the white ones. I know I am!

Real-life Harry Potter

No, no, he's not a real-life wizard. He's just a regular 20-year old guy from England who shares the name of the world's favorite boy wizard-- Harry Potter.

Yes, it does sound cool. And muggle Harry Potter was all excited at first. Until he realized it was more of a curse. "After 12 years of it I couldn't count the amount of times I've heard 'You're a wizard, Harry.' It does wear a bit thin after a while. And I've heard all the puns about my wand," he told the Daily mail.

So everyone, do you know anyone who shares the name of someone famous? Would you wish you'd have the same fate? Or no?
.

Saizen the 85-peso store

I've been shopping at this place for months and months now and I dunno why I haven't shared it with you yet (I'm so sorry!). It's a hidden gem inside Robinsons Galleria over at Ortigas. Stone's throw from my office so you wouldn't wonder why I frequent the place. But if you see all the stuff they sell for a mere 85 bucks, you would soo hate me for not sharing earlier! From toiletries to beauty products to art materials to crazy things you don't see every day. They have everything! I'll post some finds soon. But you really have to see it to appreciate it, so visit it now!!

Cauliflower with almonds, raisins and capers

Happy Monday everyone! I am feeling a little vegan today hence this cauliflower salad!

Panoramic memory drawing

Read about this over at Reuters. Amazing!

Stephen Wiltshire is an artist diagnosed with autism. He is known for doing panoramic memory drawings of various places around the world. He was recently in New York for the last of nine panoramic drawings of the world's major cities.

So this is how it's done. Mr. Wilthsire takes a few-minute helicopter ride over a place/city, and then sketch the entire (detailed!) skyline from memory!

Here's an aerial view of Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey:

Here's LA Skyline:

Here's Toronto Skyline:

And here' Stephen busy drawing the New York Skyline:

Isn't this just mind blowing? He also does other artwork/paintings of various scenes around the world. Check it out here.
